Welcome to Jacksonville University!

We are so excited to welcome you and your student onto the Jacksonville University campus.  As we recognize this will be an exciting and stressful time, we are looking to provide a program to ease students and their families into the transition of moving onto a college campus.  We have a few recommendations to help you and your student gain the most from our programs.

Week of Welcome (WOW)
The Week of Welcome begins with move-in on August 22. Residential Life will inform your student of his/her designated move-in time. Once your student is all setup, it’s off to the Week of Welcome events. We offer a combination of fun and educational activities to help your student meet people and get familiar with campus, prior to the start of classes on Monday, August 26.

If you attended a summer orientation session, your first WOW activity will be Opening Session, located in Swisher Gymnasium at 5:00pm on Thursday, August 22.

If you did not attend a summer orientation session, please check back for details on fall Orientation!

The New Student Orientation program and the Week of Welcome (WOW) are carefully designed by current students who take pride in providing opportunities for students and families to connect with JU. During New Student Orientation, parents and family members are encouraged to attend Opening Session, dinner on the Dolphin Green, the Matriculation ceremony, and Family Orientation. We have a combination of events designed for family members and students to attend both separately and together as a family. Our intention is to provide both you and your student with the appropriate resources to help make the transition to college parenting and being a college student a successful one!

Please check out this year's schedule of events!

Please encourage your student to attend all New Student Orientation and Week of Welcome activities. The student coordinators are excited about the programs they have planned to help incoming students acclimate to the academic and social aspects of college life.

Once again, welcome to JU!  Please contact us with any questions that arise.
