Students in the NROTC program are required to earn a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree in the major of their choice. All NROTC students take a naval science class and a naval science drill session each semester. In addition, Scholarship Program students are required to take two semesters of calculus, to be completed by the end of their sophomore year, and two semesters of calculus-based physics, to be completed by the end of their junior year. Scholarship students are also expected to participate in summer training cruises. In addition to high academic standards, students are expected to maintain the highest level of physical fitness, professionalism, and honor.
