Jackson Receives Institutional Excellence Award from JU

Jacksonville, Fla.—Dr. Sherri L. Jackson, professor of psychology, received Jacksonville University’s Institutional Excellence Award on December 5 for excellence in research and education.
Jackson, who received a $1,000 reward, has been at JU since 1988 and teaches psychology and research methods. She received her master’s degree and doctorate in cognitive/experimental psychology from the University of Florida. Her research interests include human reasoning and the teaching of psychology.
In addition, she has authored and co-authored many study guides and instructors’ manuals and numerous full-scale (250-plus page) textbooks, including Research Methods: A Modular Approach (Wadsworth Publishing, 2007) and Statistics Plain and Simple (Wadsworth Publishing, 2004)
“I have personally used Dr. Jackson’s Statistics Plain and Simple textbook in my Public Opinion and Survey Research course and found it to be an excellent resource for the students,” said Dr.
Raymond Oldakowski, chair of the division of social sciences. “It was informative, well-organized and clearly written.”
According to Oldakowski, Jackson is also a top rated teacher. She consistently receives Student Instructional Report evaluations that average in the highest percentiles for each of her classes.
