Student Life

The Campus

Jacksonville’s campus is located on 200 acres of riverfront land overlooking the city skyline and more recently, our campus has undergone significant changes to meet the needs of our student body. From new facilities that provide active and open learning environments, to indoor and outdoor social spaces where students study, relax, and enjoy panoramic views of the St. Johns River, our campus culture offers the precise balance of challenge, support, and mutual respect necessary for success.

Student services and amenities include nonremedial tutoring, placement service, health service, and health insurance. In addition, the University offers campus safety and security services like 24-hour foot and vehicle patrols, late night transport/escort service, 24-hour emergency telephones, lighted pathways/sidewalks, and controlled residence hall access (key, security card, etc).

Security

Jacksonville University is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our entire campus community. We have a Department of Campus Security staffed with Security Officers who service the campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We also have a partnership with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, which provides JSO officers who patrol campus each evening.

Our campus is gated, and the entrances close nightly so that all traffic entering campus must check in at the Welcome Center. We also have Blue Light Emergency Phones located on specially designed columns around campus so that students can easily contact the Department of Campus Security in an emergency.

Student housing

Housing

First-year students live in the new residence hall on North Campus, a coeducational, four-story building in with double-occupancy rooms designed to help students connect with one another and the Jacksonville University community. After freshman year, students have the option to live in Oak Hall, a suite-style residence hall, or in the Village Apartments, apartment-style living.

Our residence halls are open for the winter holiday break; however, you must register with Residential Life prior to the end of final exams.
