Position Summary

The Simulation IT Technician Specialist works in a team-based environment within the Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences (BRCHS) to assist the Simulation Training and Applied Research (STAR) Director in the operation and maintenance of the nursing lab. The Simulation Technician Specialist will also serve as a resource for use of the STAR Center by faculty and students for all IT questions related to operation and service of the STAR simulation equipment and IT related products as deemed necessary. Hours may vary by semester, but may include evening and occasional weekend hours.  The Simulation Technician Specialist will be responsible for maintaining all documents of IT operation, concerns, communication with vendor companies and resolution.

 

Essential Job Duties

  • Assist in simulation assembly of STAR IT equipment, computers, manikins, AV equipment and simulation programs for manikin usage for BRCHS and STAR contractual community related activities.
  • Assist in maintaining STAR IT equipment, computers, manikins, AV Equipment and manikin software updates.
  • Work in collaboration with student nursing lab assistants and volunteers under direction of STAR Director for maintenance and repair of equipment deemed as necessary.
  • Serve as resource for student, faculty and community partner STAR IT related inquiries.
  • Effectively communicate to STAR Director, manage and resolve IT and equipment issues in STAR Center.
  • Repair, update and maintain manikin and simulation equipment warranties and communicate with STAR Director and/or designated staff.
  • Work with STAR Director and Faculty in the manikin programing of simulation scenarios.
  • Attend specific IT product and simulation product training as deemed necessary.
  • Maintain current knowledge of manikin updates, usage problems and new products.
  • Collaborate with STAR Director in purchases of IT simulation and manikin related equipment.
  • Assist with tours and operation of manikins, IT and AV equipment as deemed necessary.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary.

Work Conditions

  • Primarily indoors except when traveling between campus buildings
  • Some off campus travel required
  • Work is performed under minimum supervision and requires incumbent to exercise independence and discretion

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
  • Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone
  • Physical lifting ability of simulation manikins and equipment up to 80 lbs
  • No Latex Allergy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer Science Degree: Programming
  • Project management experience
  • Customer service experience
