Description

Jacksonville University's School of Orthodontics seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant Professor, or higher level. The Advanced Graduate Studies Program focuses on Orthodontic knowledge based education as well as evidence based patient care and research. The School of Orthodontics is housed within a state-of-the-art facility and possesses a technologically advanced clinic with access to 3D Imaging and Research equipment dedicated solely to the Orthodontic program. In addition, the program has access to a large pool of patients with diverse needs and backgrounds and it holds a regularly multidisciplinary collaboration with the Craniofacial Center and Maxillofacial Surgery Division of Shands-UF.​

Responsibilities

​This appointment at the JU School of Orthodontics requires the selected candidate to take part in the following activities:

  • Prepare and conduct didactic lectures as assigned by course directors and Department Chair
  • Participate in the advisory committees for students research projects and coordinate clinical research activities
  • Conduct independent research
  • Supervise patient care with residents and engage in clinical teaching
  • Participate in daily diagnostic and clinical progress seminars
  • Conduct other administrative tasks as assigned by the Dean and the Chief Academics Officer

This is a full-time position that allows the faculty member up to 2 sessions per week for professional growth and developmental activities. The Jacksonville University School of Orthodontics is seeking to promote deeper engagement in research activities and increase participation in national meetings. Academic experience, peer-reviewed publications, abstracts and other professional credentials are viewed favorably by the search committee for this position.

Qualifications

​The candidate must have:

  • DDS or DMD from CODA accredited program or its equivalent
  • Orthodontic training: Certificate or MS from a CODA accredited program or its equivalent
  • Research experience
  • Florida Dental Licensure or License to practice dentistry from another state

Preferably, the candidate would have:

  • Clinical practice experience
  • Academic experience
  • American Board of Orthodontics Certification
