Position Description

Perform all significant recruiting and admissions functions necessary for the University to successfully accomplish its educational business and serve the admissions needs of the customers of the University. The primary duty of this position is to travel extensively representing Jacksonville University at various college fairs and high school visits.​

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties:

The primary duty of this position is to travel extensively representing Jacksonville University at various college fairs and private high school visits.

  • Marketing Services:
    Create and implement an individual marketing plan – include knowledge of high school or geographical history; area alumni, and friends of JU; competitors and factors of influence – that assist the university in successfully achieving its educational mission.
  • Public Relations Services:
    Perform public relations services by representing Jacksonville University at high schools, college night programs, conferences and other events as required.  Employee will serve as guest speaker, discussion on a variety of higher education topics including but not limited to the college search process, financial aid issues, scholarship services, etc., to a variety of constituents, including but not limited to professional organizations, students, and parents.
  • Customer Relations
    Serve the university as the primary point of contact, promoting and representing the interests of both Jacksonville University and its customers by providing counsel for prospective students and parents regarding academic programs of study, program requirements and scholarship programs; provide general financial aid information to educate prospective students, parents and other constituents through phone, written and electronic communication.
    Employ personalized communication techniques when communicating with prospective students, parents and other constituents through phone, written and electronic communication.
  •  University Planning:
    • Participate in development an​d implementation of campus recruitment programs
    • Make large and small group presentations to prospective students regarding programs
    • Facilitate prospective student campus visits, consultations and tours as needed
    • Achievement of student enrollment objectives as assigned by the University
  • Special Duties:
    • When not traveling representing the University, other office assignments will be assigned (e.g., phone campaigns, mass mailings, outreach, etc.)
    • Other duties as assigned
  • Special Skills:
    • Excellent critical thinking skills
    • Ability to use discretionary  judgment
    • Excellent oral communications skills
    • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Office Suite
    • Excellent problem solving abilities
    • Excellent leadership and time management skills
    • Clear, correct and effective communication using the English language; proficiency in one or more foreign languages in desirable, but not required
    • Valid Florida Driver License with good driving record; must be insurable
    • Character: be a person of character, drive and integrity who will represent the University in a professional manner at all times
    • Creativity: have the ability to meet appropriate situation with reasonable, creative responses in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the recruitment effort
    • Commitment: be dedicated to the mission of Jacksonville University in regard to the growth of tis student population
  • Work Conditions:
    • Work is primarily on the road traveling via airplane, rental car or other mode of transportation where deemed necessary
    • Hours will vary dependent on college fairs and high school visits
    • Attendance at evening and weekend events is required
    • Off-campus, state and regional travel is required
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to travel
    • Must be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds
    • Must be able to bend, stoop and reach
    • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
    • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone
    • Ability to operate a multi-passenger golf cart

Qualifications

Prerequisites Required for Position:

1. Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree required

2. Minimum Work Experience: Experience in higher education (academic or administrative), public relations or marketing
