Curriculum Overview

To earn their B.F.A., students in Computer Art and Design will complete the required art fundamentals and art history fundamentals courses. They will also complete a concentration of 36 hours in computer art and design, choosing from graphic design or computer animation/interactive media. A senior project and thesis is required and will be exhibited.

Students seeking the B.F.A. in computer art and design are required to complete an internship with a company or institution specializing in the student's targeted career area.

A portfolio review is required for entrance into the B.F.A. program. Reviews are held several times during the academic year and by appointment. A high-quality color slide portfolio in conjunction with a phone interview may be substituted, but a personal visit to the campus is encouraged. Computer artists may submit their portfolio in videotape form or on disk. Academic advisors and department mentors are assigned to help design a four-year plan of study for each student.
