Honors Program

Raise Your Bar

Choose to become a candidate for University Honors at JU, and you join a select community of scholars, each elevating their collegiate experience by profoundly learning about themselves through collaboration with others.

As an Honors candidate, you consider where your personal strengths lie, how you can refine capabilities, where you can improve, how you can broaden your perspective, and what truly matters to you.

What is it like to be an Honors candidate at JU?

  • It is active. You make the decision to approach learning dynamically and from a wider perspective.
  • It is challenging. You take on additional demands for your time and effort.
  • It is social. You collaborate with your Honors peers and advisor, and faculty mentors.
  • It is honest. You set the stage for a life-long journey of personal discovery.

Focus On How You Learn

Importantly, the University Honors Program is not about learning more facts - it's about learning better processes.

Through Honors-related activities, you learn to:

  • Listen with focus and objectivity
  • Write with clarity and poignancy
  • Speak with confidence and poise
  • Value what matters to you
  • Appreciate what matters to others

Refining and applying these skills helps you to enhance your education, personal interests, career opportunities, physical health, spiritual well being, and more. That, in turn, enables you to maintain control of your life.

Why is this significant? Because your goals in the University Honors Program are tied directly to how you want to proceed in your life. As a graduate with University Honors, you are especially well-positioned to pursue the next phase of your life's work - and continue to move ahead with confidence, no matter where life takes you.
