EMBA Alumni Association Project Takes Shape
The Executive MBA Alumni Association took on a project to renovate of the student lounge at the Davis College of Business. In its first year of existence, the EMBA Alumni Association aimed for a project that would have a tangible and lasting effect on the student body. An enhancement of the students’ lounge area on the second floor of the Davis College was an obvious choice.
Marginally equipped as a lounge, the room was ripe for improvement. With the challenge in hand, the Alumni Association approached Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida [BCBSF]. BCBSF agreed to provide resources for the project. Offering a skilled design team, BCBSF helped to upgrade the communications capability, the study area and the amenities of the room in accordance with suggestions from the Dean and alumni.
Implemented in barely a week, the renovation has completely transformed the lounge into an inviting study area. Once fully outfitted, the room will provide nearly twenty chairs for study with wireless support. There are two installed workstations as well as a flat screen television with cable. Two vending machines and a small galley comprise the other amenities. A new paint scheme has lightened the mood of the room, and carpet was installed throughout the study area.
Students and alumni are welcome to visit and take advantage of this revitalized facility, a tribute to the efforts of the EMBA Alumni Association and their community partnerships.
