Public Safety
Access & Key Control
Access Control
Access to campus buildings and grounds is a privilege extended to students, faculty, staff, and authorized guests. The University encourages an open environment with limited constraints to ensure the reasonable protection of all members of the community. Normal operating hours for nearly all non-residential buildings are from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Unmonitored usage of facilities during non-operating hours is discouraged. Individuals who wish to access buildings or property during non-operating hours or for special events should make arrangements with the proper University officials before they need access. Those Division and/or Department Heads will contact the Public Safety Department during normal business hours to arrange for unmonitored usage. Arrangements may also be made through the Division of Financial Affairs' Facilities Coordinator.
Persons observed inside buildings will result in the summons of law enforcement to investigate. For safety reasons, always contact the Public Safety Department to notify them of your presence on campus before accessing buildings or offices.
For access to individual laboratories or workspaces, an Access Authorization Form must be completed and submitted to the Public Safety Department.
Key Control
Persons requiring the issuance of keys to work spaces or buildings must make the request through their department head. Keys are issued once the key authorization form is completed and signed. Please report any lost or stolen keys to the Public Safety Department immediately. All keys must be returned to the Universty's locksmith upon voluntary or involuntary separation from employment.
