Sociology
Internship & Career Opportunities
Sociology majors enjoy access to a variety of internships in various agencies and organizations, including social services and the justice system, education and healthcare, mental health and counseling, community organization and international service. Faculty encourage and assist students in pursuing internships that will be of educational value to them, of professional value to their careers, and of value to the agencies and communities in which the internships are served. Some students receive job offers directly from their internships. Internships often provide valuable opportunities for sociological research that enables students to learn more about themselves and others in workplace and other real-world settings.
Sociology majors find career opportunities in social work and counseling, criminal and juvenile justice, mental health and healthcare, administration and personnel management, community organization and urban planning, politics, social policy research, and more.
