Internship & Career Opportunities
Students in the JU psychology program have participated in internships in a wide variety of local social programs, including Mayo Clinic, V.A. Outpatient Mental Hygiene Clinic, Hope Haven Clinic for Children and Families, Daniel Memorial Home for Children, Hubbard House of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Child Guidance Clinic, Memorial Regional Rehabilitation Program, The Bridge Program of North East Florida, Drug Court of Duval County, Clay County Behavioral Mental Health Program, Mental Health Resource Center of Jacksonville, Walt Disney World College Program in Human Resources, Prudential Insurance Human Resources Department, Jacksonville Office of the State Attorney, Children's Crisis Center, Department of Children and Families, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Pace Center for Girls, State Attorney's Office Diversionary Program, and the Magnolia Project.
The department has had success in sending qualified students to graduate, professional, and law schools. A number of JU psychology graduates who have pursued graduate training and earned their doctorates are currently practicing psychologists or hold academic positions at universities. Graduates have been successful in applying to graduate programs in such areas as counseling and clinical psychology, industrial-organizational psychology, experimental psychology, developmental psychology, and social work. Psychology majors not attending graduate school have also found a wide variety of rewarding careers. Some of their employers include Daniel Memorial, Hope Haven Children's Clinic & Family Center, the Federal Reserve Bank, and the Child Guidance Center.
