The faculty teaching political science at Jacksonville University have expertise in American government (national, state, and local levels), international and comparative politics, as well as research methods and theory. Faculty members have lived and worked in such diverse places as Washington D.C., Vietnam, the Philippines, Korea, Hong Kong and Africa. They have also served as advisors and consultants to local, state, and national level politicians, the media, and to officials in foreign governments. Thus the faculty bring first-hand experience to a variety of topics in political science. They offer many courses in their fields of expertise including Public Policy and Public Administration, Political Parties and Elections, American Foreign Policy and National Security Policy, International Organizations, International and Comparative Political Economy, and Asian Studies. Political science majors may choose to specialize in a specific area, such as international politics or American politics, or they may take a wide variety of courses covering all areas of study within the discipline.
