Concert Choir 2006-2007 with Director Dr. Jon O. Carlson
Active chapters of Pi Kappa Lambda national honorary society in music, Mu Phi Epsilon, the Music Entertainment Industry Students Association, and the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference have been established on campus. The MEISA chapter helps coordinate activities for the JU based record label, Dolphinium Records. Music students regularly perform in a variety of musical organizations and in recital formats required by their curricula. Numerous ensembles with regular rehearsals and performances provide experience for all JU students. Association with these organizations may require an audition.

Student performing groups include:
- Concert Choir - specializing in choral literature
- Opera/Music Theatre Workshop - a laboratory for music theatre works and one-act operas
- University Orchestra - a symphonic orchestra
- Wind Ensemble - specializing in traditional and contemporary wind repertoire, frequently performing with the First Coast Wind Ensemble
- Jazz Ensemble - specializing in swing, standard and contemporary jazz
- Percussion Ensemble - specializing in traditional and contemporary percussion repertoire
- Smaller Chamber Ensembles - specializing in literature for smaller vocal and instrumental ensembles in both classical and jazz idioms
