Program Description

While a Bachelor’s degree is required, there is no best academic major when considering pre-professional programs like pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-law, pre-vet, etc.  These schools look for well-rounded individuals who have demonstrated the ability to use their intellect.  It is to student’s advantage to choose a major based on their interests so that they may excel.

Pre-Medical Program Requirements

The Division of Science and Mathematics has a pre-medical program to assist students with the application process for Medical, Dental, Veterinary, Osteopathic, Physical Therapy, Optometry etc. schools.  Students interested in taking advantage of this program should fill out the application form attached to this packet. (NOTE: No other applications are in the catalog. Applications should be online.)

Medical, Dental, Veterinary schools require a number of science courses and these are encompassed by following the University Pre-Med Check-Sheet  which includes classes required for preparation for the MCAT  (Medical College Admissions Test) exam.  Dental schools require the DAT (Dental Admission Test).  Optometry schools require the OAT (Optometry Admissions Test).
