Ray Oldakowski, Professor of Geography
B.A. Geography, Stetson University; M.A. Geography, University of Florida; Ph.D. Geography, University of Illinois.

Dr. Oldakowski’s  research interests include cultural geography, population geography, and geographic education.  His teaching interests include world regional geography, urban, population, and cultural geography, and research methods.  He has also led study abroad trips to Ecuador, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and the Philippines.

Dr. Oldakowski is a recipient of the National Council for Geographic Education Distinguished Teaching Award (2006), Jacksonville University Institutional Excellence Award (2006), is a National Geographic Society Education Foundation Grantee (2004), and a Past President of the Florida Society of Geographers (1998).

 

Jeff Martin, Assistant Professor of Geography
B.A. Engineering, United States Military Academy at West Point; M.S. International Studies, Troy University; M.A. Geography,
Appalachian State University; Ph.D. Geography, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Martin is a climatologist with research interests in wind and wind damage, environmental geography, and severe weather.  As the physical geographer on the JU faculty, Dr. Martin teaches geomorphology, weather and climate, environmental geography, and Geographic Information Science (GIS).  He has lived and traveled extensively abroad and within the United States.  He leads a travel abroad program to the Philippines in June.

Dr. Martin is a former Vice President and President of the Florida Society of Geographers, and he Jacksonville University managing agent for the Florida Environmental Summit.

Jennifer Anticknap (Adjunct Professor)

Areas of Specialization: Fluvial Geomorphology, Paleoclimatology, Water Resources/Floodplain Management and Geographic Information Systems

Ms. Anticknap teaches World Regional Geography and Advanced/Project Geographic Information Systems.  Ms. Anticknap’s Master of Science research focused on examining the dendroclimatic potential in the Churchill River Basin of Saskatchewan, Canada - a joint venture with the National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and Manitoba Hydro. During her time at the University of Regina.  Ms. Anticknap also conducted dendroclimatic research in remote areas of Northern Canada and the United States in an effort to create a long-term picture of regional drought.  Currently Ms Anticknap is employed with Reynolds, Smith and Hills, Inc (Jacksonville, FL) utilizing Global Positioning Systems and Geographic Information Systems for utility applications.  Ms. Anticknap also serves as a Regional Director (Region 2) for the Florida Floodplain Managers Association and remains involved in digital terrain modeling, watershed delineation and floodplain management.
