At Jacksonville University, Shakespeare comes alive, literally, thanks to the Feast and Folly Renaissance players—one of the longest-running examples of engaged learning at JU. English students don’t simply read and discuss scripts— they recreate the English dramas and music as they were originally intended – in popular festival settings before an interactive audience. English students can expect the unexpected with Hogwarts Day, an event prompted by a study in children’s literature, complete with costumes and open-air Quidditch games.

At JU, an English degree does more than improve your reading, writing and analytical skills. It helps you think on your feet! You’ll also gain insight into the structure of the English language, explore film as an art form, and develop an appreciation for great literature. Students can enrich their experience by studying abroad and participating in The Inklings—a student club that holds social, intellectual, career and service events throughout the year.
