Faculty Accomplishments

Nancy R. Thomas, adjunct professor of art history, had the following papers published:

“What Inspired the Kingsley Plantation House?” presented at the Southeastern College Art Conference, October 15, 2004, Jacksonville, Fla. The abstract appeared in the Southeastern College Art Conference Review, v. XIV 5, 2005, (2007), pp. 526-527.

 “A Frontal Foot on a ‘Mycenaean’ Inlaid Dagger: A First or a Forgery?” in Stefanos aristeios: archäologische Forschungen zwischen Nil und Istros: Festschrift für Stefan Hiller zum 65. Geburtstag/herausgegeben von Felix Lang, Claus Reinholdt, Jörg Weilhartner, eds., Vienna 2007, pp. 251-259.

Jonathan Christie, artist-in-residence in the glass art program, spent two weeks in February, 2006 at the Littala Glass Factory in Nuutajarvi, Finland where he was part of Dale Chihuly's team. He also gave demonstrations and lectured at universities in Stockholm and Helsinki.

Bill Hill, dean of the College of Fine Arts, presented a paper titled “Entered Apprentice: A Case for Failure in Learning” at the College Art Association National Conference in Boston in February 2006.

Caroline Madden, associate professor in the glass art program, spent fall 2006 in residence in Boora, Ireland, to create a permanent work of art for the sculpture park based on environmental and industrial heritage. She also spoke at the national Glass Art Society Conference in St. Louis.

Selin Ozguzer, assistant professor of computer art and design, presented her paper titled “Interactive Manga: A Prototype for Multi-Linear Visual Narrative" at the 5th International Symposium of Interactive Media Design held in April at Yeditepe University Communication Design Department in Istanbul, Turkey, April 28-30, 2007. Professor Ozguzer was one of 22 speakers, and her paper is being published in the Symposium Book.
