Aviation Management and Flight Operations Curriculum
The aviation management and flight operations major prepares candidates for careers as professional pilots for airlines or corporate flight departments. Jacksonville University has joined forces with Delta Connection Academy, owned and operated by Delta Airlines. This partnership combines, for the first time in college aviation education, the academic excellence of a private university with an airline-designed, airline-operated flight academy. Students gain a well-rounded education with a solid foundation in business management and receive airline-quality training. This unique opportunity allows students to obtain a four-year college degree in a high-quality academic environment and pursue the best possible path toward a career as professional pilots.
Students majoring in aviation management and flight operations must complete the University core curriculum and specialized College of Business core requirements. In addition, students complete courses dealing with the conduct of commercial flight operations and management of airlines, airports, and aviation-related businesses. The flight training program, an integral part of the curriculum, provides all required FAA flight ratings to conduct flight operations as commercial pilots and flight instructors.
Students planning to enroll in the flight training program must meet FAA medical certification and security standards. For example, a valid FAA Class III medical certificate is required to enroll in AO 111 (Private Pilot Lab).
