Dr. Rhett Yates is an Assistant Professor at Jacksonville University (Florida) where he is teaching Aviation History, Aviation Economics, Airline Management, Civil Aviation Operations, and Airport Planning & Management. Dr. Yates is the co-advisor for the Jacksonville University Flight Team, Alpha Eta Rho, and A.A.A.E. student organizations.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Yates held a variety of guest lecturer, adjunct professor and assistant professor positions at Auburn University (Alabama), Lynn University (Florida), University of North Dakota (North Dakota) and St. Cloud State University (Minnesota). Dr. Yates also held operations management roles at Troup Air and LaGrange Callaway Airport in LaGrange, Georgia.
Dr. Yates earned his PhD in Educational Leadership from Lynn University. His dissertation research topic explored technology in collegiate aviation classrooms. He earned his MBA from LaGrange College and his Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management & Flight Technology from the Florida Institute of Technology. Honors include: 1999-2000 Teacher Recognition Award for the College of Science and Engineering, St. Cloud State University and 2000-2001 Outstanding Student Organization Advisor, University of North Dakota.
Dr. Yates is a certified FAA pilot holding a commercial certificate with multi-engine instrument rating as well as advanced ground instructor rating.
