Accounting
The Davis College of Business offers internship opportunities for students in all major areas of study, including accounting. Internships allow students to expand their education and skills, receive exposure to real-life experiences, and enhance their career opportunities while earning academic credits. More than 50 local and/or national organizations sponsor internships for College of Business students.
The accounting program at JU provides the basic foundations for entry-level positions in accounting, finance or administration in business or government. Such organizations include the banks, industry, investment houses, brokerage firms, auditing or tax, city or state governments. A professional degree and license as a C.P.A. for the financial accountant, a C.M.A. for the managerial accountant, or a C.I.A. for the internal auditor are the frequent goals of an accounting major. Graduates have gone on to successful careers with the PGA Tour, Merrill Lynch, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte & Touche, the City of Jacksonville, Continental Insurance, AT&T, American Transtech and the U.S. Government Accountability Office.
