Dr. Kim Capriotti, Associate Professor of Finance and Accounting, currently teaches the accounting and finance foundation courses in the MBA program.  She has also taught courses in accounting information systems, auditing, corporate finance, and financial accounting.  Dr. Capriotti has published papers in several journals, including the Journal of Forensic Accounting, the Journal of Business & Economics Research, Chiropractic Economics, and Personal Financial Planning Monthly.  She has also supervised several undergraduates who’s research papers were accepted for presentation at the National Conference of Undergraduate Research (NCUR).

            Currently, Dr. Capriotti is serving as Jacksonville University’s Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) to the NCAA.  In her position as FAR, she is responsible for working with Jacksonville University’s (JU) president and director of athletics to ensure effective administration of the intercollegiate athletics program at JU, in addition to ensuring the academic integrity and maintaining student-athlete well-being.  Dr. Capriotti’s other service activities include chairing the Davis College of Business students committee.  She was the recipient of the inaugural 2007 Tim Shakespeare Staff Award, awarded by JU’s office of campus activities, to a faculty or staff member who is responsible for major contributions to JU through service to students.

            Prior to coming to JU, Dr. Capriotti was a faculty member at the University of North Florida (UNF), where she taught finance and accounting courses and was awarded UNF’s Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award in 2001.  Before making her way to Jacksonville, she began her teaching career at the University of Minnesota (1986-87) and Florida State University (1987-1991) as a graduate instructor before serving as an assistant professor of accounting at Drake University (1992-93).  Prior to pursuing her academic career, Dr. Capriotti was a staff auditor at Touche Ross (now Deloitte Touche) in Minneapolis.  She currently holds an inactive Minnesota CPA certificate.
