Position Title: Director of Information Services
Department: Information Technology
Status: Full-time/Exempt
Reports to: Chief Information Officer
Position Description
The Director of Information Services directs all aspects in the development and maintenance of the institution's applications, including enterprise applications, web development, data warehousing, reporting, authority control, workflow and data management. In addition, this position is responsible for the development and enforcement of processes and procedures for the development team.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the IT Application needs of all clients and work with each department to ensure their technical needs are being met
- Develop IT policies and procedures
- Provide direction and analysis for software enhancements
- Effectively direct all projects assigned to IT Application staff
- Manage all projects requiring IT Application involvement
- Direct web design/hosting functionality
- Plan and schedule installations considering timing, version compatibility and other factors
- Analyze system performance and address performance problems
- Responsible for high-level strategic planning, considering issues such as resource utilization, acquisition planning of new technologies, disaster recovery planning, overall system performance and security on a strategic basis
- Hire, train and supervise Information Technology staff
- Ensure that a personal development plan is in place for all staff that ensures their current skills are maintained and developed for the benefit of both the organization and the individual
Qualifications
Prerequisites Required for Position:
- 5-8 years of IT management experience
- Proven leadership skills; ability to embrace and effect change within the organization
- Able to interact with all levels of the business community
- A demonstrated ability to influence people and decisions across multiple functions and areas of expertise
- Must have extensive project planning, vision planning, troubleshooting and management experience
- Detail-oriented, with an emphasis on follow-up, closure and meeting deadlines
- Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
- Strong ethics and values which support the organizations goals and foster the appropriate culture
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Proven skills as a coach and developer of people
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Provide guidance to the development team in standards and processes for systems development
- Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills; must be highly skilled in customer service with end-users at all levels of proficiency
- Ability to respond to quickly changing priorities or new demands with flexibility, promptness and precision
- Prior higher education experience preferred
Minimum Education Requirement:
- Degree in related field
- Technology expertise
- Management expertise
Desired:
- Ability to recognize, troubleshoot and resolve situations or problems is a necessity
- Responds with a sense of urgency to immediate needs
- Understands directives and requirements of projects
- Detailed oriented with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to clearly outline and define concerns and solutions
- Accepts and adapts to change as directed
- Customer service experience
Minimum Work Experience: 10 years+
Working Conditions:
- Typically inside
- Occasionally work will require some weekend/evening hours
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs
- Must be able to travel for training purposes
