Position Title: Student Employment Coordinator
Department: Financial Aid
Status: Full-time
Reports to: Director of Financial Aid
Position Description
The Student Employment Coordinator will serve as a centralized resource for students, supervisors, administrators and off-campus stakeholders working or employing workers for pay.
Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate employment opportunities, payroll dates, policies, procedures and expectations campus employment to the university.
- Provide accurate reporting of hours worked to Payroll in accordance with reporting deadlines.
- Provide Partners Training (improving customer service) for student employees.
- Classify all available jobs according to the guidelines developed by the Student Employment Task Force.
- Maintain and regularly update employment manuals and training materials for students and supervisors.
- Coordinate with the Director of Community Service to assure compliance with the 7% community service obligation required under the Federal Work Study Program.
- Coordinate with the Athletic Department to insure that student athletes are in compliance with NCAA regulations.
- Create and implement a student worker recognition program.
- Monitor individual student earnings and notify students and their supervisors when earning limits are reached.
- Monitor departmental employment budgets to assist individual departments in better utilizing available funds.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and one year experience working in a financial aid office or related field. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal); familiarity with various software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of regulations governing Title IV financial aid.. Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (prior experience in a college financial aid office may be considered in lieu of degree). Requires excellent skills in customer service and analytical problem solving.
