Position Title: Dean of Arts & Sciences
Status: FT, Exempt
Reports to: Sr. Vice President of Academic Affairs

Position Description
Jacksonville University invites applications for the position of Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. The position requires a dynamic individual to articulate a clear vision for the College and to advocate within the University and in the broader community for the College’s core academic mission and for the disciplines offered by the College. Candidates for this position should demonstrate forward-looking leadership and organizational skills, a commitment to diversity, successful experience in the assessment of student learning, and the vision to address the programmatic and technological challenges of the 21st century. The Dean is expected to show creative leadership in enhancing the effectiveness and visibility of the College's teaching, research, and outreach missions. The Dean reports to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and works with the Office of Institutional Advancement on outreach and fundraising efforts. An appreciation of the value of synergy across disciplines throughout the University is essential.

Jacksonville University encourages you to apply for this position, if you possess a combination of education, training, and/or experience which clearly demonstrates the highest level of professional competence. Applicants will be evaluated based upon the following:

Professional Competencies
- Earned doctorate in a discipline represented by the College.
- At least seven years college or university teaching experience required, with a minimum of three years administrative experience in higher education.
- An academic or professional record of scholarship/creative activity consistent with those of a tenured professor in a discipline in the College.
- History of experience in a university with an acknowledged level of expertise and success in assessment and satisfying regional accrediting agencies.
- A commitment to act as an advocate of the College of Arts and Sciences in the university planning and budget process.
- Demonstrated commitment to shared governance.
- Demonstrated success in program planning, program review and development, implementation of new programs, curriculum development, enrollment management, schedule development, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, administration, and students.
- Demonstrated success in procurement of external funding.
