Position Title: Assistant to the President
Department: President's Office
Status: Exempt
Reports to: President

Position Description
This position reports directly to the President of Jacksonville University and operates within the Office of Special Projects which encompasses institutional effectiveness, institutional research, governmental relations, and other projects assigned by the President.  Assists in the major programmatic, management and administrative responsibilities of the President.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, design and conduct institutional research to support all University areas.
  • Facilitate a process of developing and maintaining an assessment infrastructure.
  • Chair the Assessment Subcommittee of the Strategic Planning Committee.
  • Collaborate with faculty to conduct program reviews and student outcomes assessment.
  • Oversee preparation and distribution of reports that document implementation of the University's long-range plan.
  • Document, through a variety of performance indicators, the effectiveness of the University in meeting its strategic goals and objectives.
  • Supervise the Director of Institutional Research and staff assistant.

Government Relations

  • Serve as liaison for appropriate governmental issues sponsored by the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florid (ICUF).
  • Assist in the coordination of communication with ICUF, Post Secondary Education Planning Commission (PEPC), and others.

Special Projects

  • Represent the President, as needed, at internal and external meetings.
  • Undertake special assignments/projects on a wide range of management issues.
  • Serve on various University committees and Task Forces as the direction of the President.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated management skills with track record of completing significant projects thoroughly and on time, and the ability to simultaneously organize complex projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and follow-through.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of higher education systems and issues.
  • Knowledge of assessment techniques and understanding of the role of assessment in documenting institutional effectiveness.
  • Ability to supervise an office of institutional research to support university decision-making.
  • Knowledge of information reporting requirements for higher education institutions.
  • Ability to supervise and train staff.
