Position Title: Dean - Davis College of Buisness

Reports to: Vice President of Acedimic Affairs
Position Description
Chief administrator of the College of Business which encompasses academic business disciplines, an Aeronautics Program, and Evening MBA and Executive MBA Programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all faculty and staff (including all full and part-time faculty, Associate Dean and administrator, MBA Director and two staff, Aviation Director and Associate Aviation Director, administrator for Dean's office and half-time faculty/Center Director and half time administrator).
- Maintenance of academic standards within the various programs of the college, including the review of credentials of Evening MBA and Executive MBA applicants, and the final determination of students to be admitted to these programs; the review of the academic records of undergraduate and graduate students subject to academic warning, probation, suspension, or dismissal and a determination of the appropriate academic action; and the review of credentials of all adjunct faculty members teaching in the college and final approval of the courses to be taught by these individuals.
- The encouragement of faculty research, service, and pedagological activities.
The preparation and administration of the college budgets.
- The representation of the college on various university committees.
- The development and oversight of new instructional programs and of special activities and projects designed to attract and effectively utilize financial and human resources to improve the academic and financial status of the college.
- Development and maintenance of contacts in the business community in order to:
a. support the mission of the University Council
b. facilitate the operation of the DCOB Business AdvisoryCommittee and its sub-committees
c. initiate and maintain partnerships for academic programs
d. acquire and maintain financial and intellectual support DCOB initiatives
e. maintain the visibility of the university in the commercial environment
- Develop and implement the strategic plan for the Davis College of Business.
- Lead change management within the college as it relates to assessment objectives and procedures, undergraduate curriculum improvement, and improvement of student services.
- Provide a communications link from the DCOB to University administration and leadership and to provide a communications link from the University administration and leadership to the DCOB faculty and staff.
- Oversee the work of functional coordinators for each business major (including their duties in maintaining standards for business curricula in the Adult Degree Program).
Periodic Responsibilities
- Lead AACSB candidacy process.
- Facilitate the staffing of full time faculty positions, two director positions, one assistant director position and four and one-half administrative positions plus work study students.
- Lead the programmatic input for the design plan for the new Davis College of business facility.
Qualifications
Doctorate or terminal degree in one of the disciplines of the College.
Education Experience required to perform job
Evidence of administrative skills showing effective leadership and management ability, at the level of department chair or above.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Commitment to and experience in private education.
Appreciation of and commitment to the liberal arts component of the education of business students.
Experience in fund raising.
Experience in developing partnerships and programs with organizations and business in the community.
