Davis College of Business faculty are diverse, well-educated and trained, and an exceptionally experienced group of teacher/scholars. They've started and run successful businesses, consulted to leading world-wide companies, and held senior leadership positions in some of the world's largest organizations. Whether advising a CEO on a potential merger, evaluating a new venture concept, or supporting a new market entry, Davis faculty are experts in their fields. They bring that experience to class each day, helping bring theory and concepts to actual hands-on practice.
What is so surprising for a smaller business school with a teaching mission like ours, they are also accomplished, active scholars and researchers. They hold editorship, associate editorship, or editorial board roles on many professional journals, chair academic divisions, and convene conferences and program sessions on a regular basis. Many have also conducted research on critical challenges facing leaders, organizations and communities. Dr. Hassan Pordeli, for example, performed ground-breaking research in 2009 for a national business women's association on the economic impact of women-owned businesses. Many others have won professional awards for their published work. And the Davis College of Business is home for over six recognized and successful on-line academic journals listed in the major publishing references such as Cabell's and EBSCO.
While experts and scholars, their first love is teaching. They study teaching, practice, and refine it. They mentor each others to improve their teaching and assess their impact on student learning. Davis faculty - engaged business professionals, scholars, and dedicated teachers. They are the best of the best.
