Dr. Hugh Van Seaton is Resource Professor of Accounting and Finance at Jacksonville University’s Davis College of Business. Dr. Seaton's doctoral degree is in education (Ed. D.), with a cognate in Accounting, from University of North Florida, 2007. He holds a Master’s of Science in Commerce, Finance major, from St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO, and a Bachelor's of Science in Business and Public Administration from University of Missouri, Columbia, MO, with a dual major in Accounting and Finance. Dr. Seaton's research interests include Performance Management, Organizational Theory, Six Sigma, Continuous Process Improvement and various accounting and finance topics. Dr. Seaton has a diverse background in corporate finance and accounting, with experience in Commercial and International Banking, Investment Banking, and Government Finance. Dr. Seaton is a member of the Financial Executives International (FEI), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA), the Florida Government Finance Officers Association (FGFOA), the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS), the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society for collegiate schools of business, and the Phi Lambda Theta International Honor Society and Professional Association in Education.
Dr. Seaton serves the community in his role as an audit committee member for Community First Credit Union of Florida, as a member of the board of the FEI Northern Florida Chapter, and also as a member of the Board of Governors for the Northeast Florida Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors. Dr. Seaton is past president of the Association of Government Accountants Jacksonville Chapter and a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, professional business fraternity. Dr. Seaton is a Certified Public Accountant, a Chartered Global Management Accountant, and a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt. His personal interests include tennis, golf, running, reading, bridge, and spending time with family.
