The Davis College of Business is in the talent development and management business. While our for-credit courses are core to our mission, we are also dedicated to helping organizations identify, develop, and retain key talent. Faculty are engaged in relevant research across a range of issues, whether new venture management, acquisition valuation, marketing plan development, or supporting a leadership succession process. They are internationally known and respected for this work.
We also host innumerable events on campus, whether alone or in partnership with other organizations such as the World Affairs Council (WAC) or Economic Roundtable. Major thought leaders who shape the day's news are featured at these events. Dozens of low-cost webinars are provided from world renown providers such as the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) and HR People & Strategy (HRPS). The Leadership Forum sponsored by leading companies in Jacksonville is a long-standing workshop series that brings top leadership and business professionals to town.
The Davis Leadership Center
The Davis Leadership Center (DLC) is very experienced in designing and supporting continuing education programs for professionals, as well. The DLC coordinates outreach programs for our Center for Accounting & Finance Excellence (CAFE) which provides short continuing education courses that give credits essential for accounting, finance, and insurance professionals in our community. These programs are delivered with and by Davis faculty for groups as diverse as internal auditors, risk managers, and financial consultants.
Most importantly, however, DLC faculty and staff have over three decades of experience in designing, developing, and delivering custom-designed, in-house executive education programs. These programs offer cost-effective, focused solution for organizations wanting to build strategic leadership bench strength and business acumen. Few academic program providers can do what we do. Typical elements include:
- One-on one leadership style assessments, development planning & coaching
- Team and group simulation design and delivery
- Visioning/strategic planning process design and group facilitation
- Executive communications skills assessment and development
- Talent management process assessment and improvement, including competency modeling, leadership team assessments, and career development planningcompetency
- Functional business knowledge (accounting, finance, operations, etc.)
