The Computing Sciences department fosters collaboration with Jacksonville community. To this end, we organize outreach workshops to demonstrate the beauty of Computer Science to high school students from Jacksonville.
The goal of the project "Robots, Dwarves and Alice in wonderland: a different view of computer science for college and high school girls" is to attract more college and high school female students to science and engineering. The first workshop that took place in Jacksonville University included activities with Lego MindStorms
robotics, the Alice
software that aims at teaching the basic principles of object oriented programming, and the Wix
software for web development.
The Computing Sciences department will hold yearly workshops for high school students in the Jacksonville area. These will include robotics activities, mobile application development, web design, and object oriented programming.
