 Music plays an important role at Jacksonville University. Collaborating with our distinguished faculty of professional performing artists and researchers, you can focus and refine your skills while you deepen your appreciation for the art. JU has a low student-teacher ratio, and is the perfect environment for you to know your professors closely as mentors and friends, and shine in your own way in our creative environment

At Jacksonville University, you have the opportunity to:

* Star in an Opera or Musical.

* Perform with our Jazz Combos, Choirs, Marching Band, Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble.

* Produce and record albums in our recording studios, which are released on our record label Dolphinium Records.


Bachelor of Music - B.M. degree – Majors offered in Performance (voice, piano, organ, instruments, and piano accompanying) and in Composition and Theory (including electronic music.) 

Bachelor of Fine Arts - B.F.A. Music Theatre (interdisciplinary) - A professional degree designed to prepare graduates for professional work in Music Theatre, incorporating extensive musical training with dance and theatre.

Bachelor of Science - B. S. in Music Business - A liberal arts degree designed to prepare graduates for work in music industry, offering concentrations in Management, Marketing, and Music Technology.

Bachelor of Music Education - B.M.E. degree - A professional degree designed to prepare graduates to teach music in kindergarten through twelfth grades of the public schools of Florida, and most other states.

Bachelor or Arts - B.A. degree - A liberal arts degree offering concentrations in jazz, commercial music, applied music, and music theatre. These concentrations prepare students for careers or further study for advanced degrees.

Jacksonville University is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).

The Division of Music at Jacksonville University fosters a community of engaged performers, pedagogues and entrepreneurs within the framework of the liberal arts setting.  Our students and faculty are critical thinkers, collaborative artists and community ambassadors.  We prepare the students (pre-professionals) for life long success in the evolving field of music in the 21st Century.
