We Celebrated the 50th Anniversary Gala Reunion April 4th and 5th!

Science & Mathematics Reunion at Jacksonville University

On Friday, April 4, alumni, current and former faculty, and University administration enjoyed a cocktail reception in the beautiful two-story lobby of the Davis College of Business. There was lots of laughter as guests looked at old yearbooks and showed one another photos of former JU days.

Grady Jones, Vice President of Institutional Advancement for Jacksonville University, announced that alumnus Dr. Bernie Rhodes had endowed a $25,000 scholarship in honor of retiring professor, Dr. Neal Boehnke, and retired professor Dr. Ed Lewis.

Following the reception many of the attendees went to the newly-remodeled Swisher Theater to watch the College of Fine Arts production of Oklahoma!

The celebration continued during the day on Saturday, April 5, with activities that included an alumni outing at the Jacksonville Zoo, JU versus Mercer double-header baseball games, and a BFA Art Exhibit.

The evening festivities featured a d buffet dinner followed by a Faculty Appreciation Presentation hosted by retired JU professor and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Bill Robertson. Recognition was given to the current and past faculty and a special acknowledgement to retiring professors Drs. Ted Allen, Neal Boehnke, and Ken Hoover. Dr. Lee Ann Clements presented the three with retirement gifts.

Guests later moved into the lobby of the DCOB to enjoy the music of Fernandina Beach band Instant Groove.
