With the River House build-out now moving closer to becoming a stunning centerpiece of student life in March, students, faculty, staff and alumni can turn their attention to the naming of the River House Pub. It’s time to get those creative juices flowing.
President Tim Cost agreed last fall to permit the Alumni Board of Governors and Chief Strategic Relations Officer Michael Howland to launch the "50 Fins" Campaign, which has a goal of securing 50 $5,000 alumni donations to help pay for the pub, name it, and give it to this and future generations of JU students.
There are 46 commitments to date – alumni patrons interested in sponsoring one of the four remaining pledges should contact Michael Howland at firstname.lastname@example.org – but the JU extended community are now encouraged to submit pub name suggestions by February 24th. Nominations will be vetted and voted on by the 50 alumni pledges.
Alumni Board of Governors Giving Chair Pamela Kirk Prentice, a 1977 graduate, former JU professor, and now the Chief Research Officer at the SAS Institute in Cary, North Carolina, is enthusiastic about the pub and the alumni response to the “50 Fins” Campaign.
“The Rathskeller was a fabulous gathering place not only for students, but for the entire JU community," she said. "It’s not surprising alumni of that era want to share that experience with future generations, but we’re delighted to see some recent grads jump in as well.”
Submissions are due Monday, February 24. Submit nominations here.
