Department Chair of Economics and Professor of Economics

John Buck received his B.A. in Economics from the University of the South (Sewanee, Tennessee), and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. His teaching interests include: Introduction to Economics; Principles of Macroeconomics; Principles of Microeconomics; Comparative Economic Development; The Economics of Globalization; International Economics; and Contemporary Economic Issues. Dr. Buck’s research includes: Economic Development in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Europe; Relationships between Politics, Religion, and Economics; Appropriate Roles for Markets and Government; and Improved Methods of Teaching and Learning Economics.  He serves as the Davis College of Business Department Chair of Economics and has been a member of the Jacksonville University faculty since 1994.
