Welcome to the Jacksonville
University Upward Bound Program. The Upward Bound (UB) program was
established by special amendments to the Higher Education Act of 1965.
We have been on Jacksonville University’s campus for over 30 years.
The program provides
opportunities for participants to succeed in their precollege
performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. The goal
of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete
secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of
postsecondary education.
The program at Jacksonville
University serves students in Duval County. These students are from
several high schools throughout the county (Andrew Jackson, Robert E.
Lee, William Raines, Jean Ribault, Englewood …). We serve over 80
students within these schools.
UB offers the students we
serve a strong mentoring component, academic tutoring in FCAT/SAT/ACT
Test Preparation, English, math, science, foreign language; exploration
of colleges and career options; team building and leadership skills; a
summer residential program on the campus of Jacksonville University;
college tours and field trips.
