The Community Service-Learning Center is here to help make your academic experience deeper and more meaningful through service-learning courses and programs that connect you to the community. We work with faculty to develop service-learning courses in which you connect your classroom learning to "real life" learning. Research shows that students who engage in service-learning have higher grade point averages, consider their service-learning experiences more valuable than classroom work, and increase self-esteem.
The mission of the Community Service-Learning Center is to promote the integration of service-learning into teaching across all academic disciplines and to encourage students to be more responsible and active citizens by actively engaging them with the society in which they live . By fostering a range of opportunities for service-learning, the Center's goal is to deepen students' academic understanding by broadening their experience through service and reflection.
Our motto is: Opening hearts, hands and minds
Florida Campus Compact works with colleges and universities in our state to promote the scholarship of engagement through research, academically rigorous service-learning, campus-community collaboration, civic engagement and collegiate volunteerism. FL|CC is a thriving and growing organization comprised of every state university, most of the community colleges and more than half of the independent colleges and universities in Florida. FL|CC provides leadership to integrate service with academic study and to link the collegiate experience with community agencies that address a spectrum of needs in cities and towns throughout Florida.
